Ms. Camilla Graeber attended Appalachian State University and received degrees in 1960 and 1965. She began her teaching career as the first full time band director in the Walhalla, S.C. school system. In 1965, Ms. Graeber moved to Lenoir
and taught in seven schools in the Lenoir City Schools and the consolidated Caldwell County Schools. Among the schools were Lenoir Junior High, Lenoir High School and Hibriten High School. While at Lenoir Junior High Ms. Graeber served as president of the Classroom Teachers Association and on the NCMEA board. She was voted Teacher of the Year for the Lenoir City School system. In 1977, after the closure of Lenoir High School, Ms. Graeber organized and hosted the first All-District Middle School Band Clinic in the Northwest District. Under her leadership the Hibriten High School Band made its first appearance at the NCBA Convention.

Since retiring, Ms. Graeber has maintained a studio for instrumental music students and served as a conductor of the Harper Adult Concert Band. In 2007, she was inducted into the NCBA Hall of Fame. The Camilla Graeber Endowment
Scholarship at the James C. Harper School of Performing Arts is named in honor of Ms. Graeber. Ms. Graeber has completed twenty-two years as a Guardian ad Litem for abused and neglected children in the 25th Jusicial District.
