Craig Everett
2017 Hall of Fame Inductee

Craig Everett served as band director at West Carteret High School for 19 years before retiring in 2014 after 33 years of teaching. During his tenure at West Carteret, he developed the band into a consistent
award-winning organization winning both state, regional and national acclaim as one of the top high school bands. He continues to serve on many statewide boards and committees even in retirement. Locally, he serves as the conductor for the Carteret Community Sunshine Band.

Everett grew up in Robersonville, located in Martin County, and taught at Farmville Central High School and Farmville Middle School for 11 years before moving to Morehead City. While teaching in Farmville, he grew the marching band from 17 members up to 175 members as consistent award winners. The Farmville marching bands were known to be Broadway inspired, and Everett helped usher in more theatrical marching band productions to eastern North Carolina.

He is an active member at First Baptist Church of Morehead
City where he is a very active volunteer in the music
ministry and serves as the handbell choir director, sanctuary
choir member and the substitute organist. He also has been
instrumental in establishing the First Baptist Church Music
and Arts Academy. In addition, he is currently chairing the
sanctuary restoration committee, which will soon be breaking
ground on a major renovation building project at First Baptist.
