NCBA Honors Band Scales

11/7/09: The 9/10 High School String Bass scale for Honors auditions has been altered and dated 11/8/09. A two octave F scale has been added.

4/24/09: The 11/12 Alto Clarinet, Bb Bass Clarinet, Bb Contrabass Clarinet, and Eb Contrabass Clarinet scales have been updated to include a two octave Bb scale and "re-dated" to 12/1/08.

12/1/08: All of the scales have been updated and "re-dated" to 12/1/08. Please note the following updates:
- Middle School scales: no updates.
- High School scales: French horn chromatic is now from F to G (two + octaves); F scale is now two octaves.
- Senior High scales: Eb alto, bass and contra bass clarinet Bb scale has been updated to a one octave scale; Baritone BC & TC chromatic is now from concert E to concert Bb (two + octaves); Mallet scales have been reduced from ten scales to eight scales and are in a different order.

The Scale Committee recognizes that there are still issues that need to be resolved with some of the scales. Those issues include:
- Middle School scales: Inconsistency in contra clarinet scales (Bb plays 1 two octave scale while the Eb plays 2 two octave scales).
- High School scales: F scale is not currently included in the String Bass requirements.

These issues are to be resolved at our next meeting in Spring 2009 at the Honors Band Clinic. Any other proposed changes to the audition scales should be forwarded to the Scale Committee by April 1 2009 for consideration at the Spring Meeting.
