ALL-STATE HONORS BAND CLINIC REGISTRATION INFORMATION
North Carolina Honors Band Clinic
April 18-20, 2008
North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, NC
Thank you in advance for your hard work and the preparation
of your students for today’s auditions. Should your student(s)
be selected for participation in the North Carolina Honors Band, please
be certain you understand the following information. NO INFORMATION
WILL BE MAILED OR SENT TO YOU IF YOUR STUDENT(S) ARE SELECTED FOR
PARTICIPATION.
All of the registration information and forms you need
to register your students are below in Adobe Acrobat file
format. You can get a free copy of the reader by clicking
the link at the bottom of the page.
Registration Steps
1. Click the following link to register your students on line: NCBA
Honors Band Registration. Be sure to register for each ensemble
in which you have students participating. (A
BIG "thank you" to Anthony Cooper for setting up the form
for us this year!)
2. Print the Medical
Release Form/Behavior Contract. You should copy
this front/back and give one to each participating student. The student
should then return the form to you with his/her signature, the signature
of his/her parent or guardian and your signature.
3. Assess a fee of $35.00 per student who is participating in the
North Carolina Honors Band Clinic. One check should be written per
participating school per ensemble covering the cost of all students.
This check should be made payable to NCBA Honors Band. NOTE:
The check MUST be from one of the following sources: the participating
school or the school’s booster organization. Individual checks
from directors and parents will not be accepted. Please do not
send cash.
4. Mail the Registration Fee and the Medical
Release Form/Behavior Contract for each participating student
to the appropriate clinic chair listed above. All of these materials
must be mailed to the appropriate clinic chair postmarked NO LATER
THAN Tuesday, March 18, 2008. along with the
$35.00 per participating student registration fee (one check for each
ensemble) to the appropriate clinic chair listed above.
5. Upon receipt of all of your registration materials, the
clinic chair will mail you music for each student. This will be your
verification that the registration process is complete.
6 . Upon arrival at NCSA for the clinic on April 18, all participating
students MUST be registered by their participating band director in
person. The director MUST present his current MENC membership card
at the registration table. Parents MAY NOT register students
nor may they serve in the place of a band director during the clinic
weekend. A violation of this rule will result in the
dismissal of the student from the North Carolina Honors Band weekend.
Other Information You Will Need:
1. Click on the link for Lodging and Attraction Information for Winston
Salem. Included are hotels within walking distance of NCSA, links
to some of the hotels offering a discounted price for a limited time,
and links to local attractions and information. Be sure to make your
hotel arrangements as early as possible to take advantage of some
of the rates offered.
2. Print the Honors
Band Clinic Schedule, copy it front and back and give a copy
to each participating student.
3. Click this link for NCSA information: Driving

School of the Arts.
General Reminders
1. Any name that is misspelled on the auditions result list
should be indicated and noted as a correction on the registration
form. The registration form will be the official spelling list used
for the clinic program and on student certificates. Please indicate
if you are making a correction beside the student’s name on
the registration form.
2. Registration for the 11-12 Senior High School
Band and the 9-10 High School Band will be in Crawford Hall
and the 6-8 Middle School Band will register in the lobby of Watson
Hall.
3. Included in the Registration Fee is the price of dinner on Friday
and lunch on Saturday. Students will walk as a group to the location
of this meal both days. Directors are responsible for transporting
students for meals during other times. The clinic chairs would welcome
any chaperone assistance during the meals from directors.
4. PARKING: Be advised to park only in areas designated
for North Carolina Honors Band use on the NCSA campus.
5. Concerning PERCUSSION: NCSA will provide (a) four
timpani, (b) one bass drum, (c) one xylophone, (d) one glockenspiel
(bells), (e) one vibraphone, (f) one tam-tam, (g) one set of chimes,
(h) one accessory table, (I) one set of four concert toms. This
means that percussionists are responsible for bringing the following
items: snare drum, cymbals, cymbal stand, triangle, tambourine,
woodblock, claves, bass drum beaters, chime hammers, mallets, etc…
CHECK YOUR PARTS BEFORE COMING TO REHEARSAL, particularly for things
like Latin percussion instruments. Bring what you need! Directors,
please, PLEASE double check with your students before they come to
Winston-Salem to be sure they have all of the instruments they need.
6. If you have any students who will not be able to attend the clinic
please notify the appropriate clinic chair as soon as possible. Students
must attend the clinic the entire weekend.
